2025 Tidal rewind

There are very few surprises in my musical rewind for this year – I made sure to give as many new to me artists an ear, and in the same time the year was dominated by particular soundtracks and musicals.

Any month below 2.5k streams was a month that I was either traveling and visiting new places, and giving them a chance to charm me with their own soundscape or a month I was overdosing on listening to the audio versions of books I’ve already read (mainly Seanan McGuire, Mira Grant and Terry Prattchet).

My top 10 artists are actually top 6, and my top 10 songs were a bit of a surprise. I expected something slightly different, knowing which playlists have had the most mileage lately.

See, the most amazing part of my 2025 rewind is that, despite the fact I’ve listened pretty much exclusively to the albums, songs and artists above, I am yet to listen to anything enough times to surpass the amount of times I’ve listened to Aishinka by Bulgarian Voices Berlin. I find this both fascinating and incredibly funny, as it just shows that nothing beats a nice hyper fixation.

In 2025 I went to a few concerts – Linkin Park, Damiano David, Ella Henderson & One Republic, Eva Quartet. (I also find it funny that none of Damiano David’s album made it to my 100 most listened to songs for this year.)

I also found some bands and artists I’ve already planned to see or really want to see. Tanxugueiras is one of these. Paptircem, whom I found in 2024 is another. I am going to see The Warning & Yungblud next year. Hopefully, a musical or two as well. Poets of the Fall are planning at least one concert in Helsinki next year, and I might’ve even found company for it!

In the last month of 2025 I will listen to just more of the same, and every now and then – making sure I give my Christmas playlist a go as well.
