I was planning on doing stuff this weekend, but yesterday the Hugo voting packet dropped, and now I have something like 50 books and some additional great works to read, and thank the Universe I am taking a vacation soon.
Seriously, the best thing you can do if you have 50 bucks to spare at the beginning of every year is to renew WSFS membership. Does it feel pricey – probably. Is it worth it? Absolutely!
The voting packet includes electronic versions of the nominated works — sometimes audio books, too — and you get to vote for your favourites! Win-win situation!
I’ve already read some of the nominated for Best Series but that’s not gonna stop me! Rereading is fun!
Anyway, here’s a link to the nominated works in case you are not as invested as me, and don’t know them already.
Also, in case you didn’t know, the Hugo awards have a Best Dramatic Presentation – short and long form, and some of those also get some sweet submissions such as screenplays of the series/movies. Big (American) studios usually don’t provide these, but this year I see the production of ‘Wicked’ has provided the screenplay and a link to watch the movie. There’s also 2 ‘Star Trek: Lower Decks’ and 2 ‘Doctor Who’ episodes
Which, I’ve seen these already, but – as you now know – that’s not gonna stop me!
p.s. just realised today is the official day of Bulgarian alphabet and literacy, and there’s no better day to gush about books; let’s hope someday we see a Bulgarian name among the nominated, and why not a winner
